Dear Mollie -- it is with the greatest of pleasure that I seat myself to drop you a few lines to let you know that I am well at present. Mollie I have not heard from you since you left. I am anxious to hear from you whether you got home safe or not -- and how you stood the trip and all about it. I heard that you was made at me and Kate for not coming over to see you. I was very sorry to here it, but I did not hardly believe it for it was impossible they was useing up every horse on the place that was fit to ride. I think we are very excusable don’t you. I think you will say yes. We will close that subject and talk about some other things. Mollie I saw Doctor C----last Thursday night --and he is just as mischevous as ever, and I also saw two of my sweethearts last night, one of them was a young gentleman from Warrensburg, Johnston he is a gint you bet. the young gents all fell in love with you when you was down. I don’t see what we are to do about it. Mollie I had my fortune told the other day, and it was a good one you bet. I will tell you some of it. Well she said in the first place that I was engaged to be married and would be married twice - my first would be a farmer and my next a merchant and was going to do very well to get either of them and also said that I was going to live in a frame dwelling and have some beautiful shade trees in the yard; and I will be finely fixed. Now don’t you recon you would wish to see me then. I have had some nice times since you left. Tell Gustus* that I am not gone to Kentucky yet but I do not know how soon it will be till I start. Tell him I have been looking for him ever since I came home. I can’t work for thinking and looking for him. I am getting very uneasy for fear them girls up there wont’ let him and Ike come down.......Don’t you believe it. I guess you do. Tell him and Ike and Alexandr and Tommy and Billy and Jerry and Johnny and all the good looking boyes that I send my best respects and wishes and love. And also tell all the girls I want to see them, O so bad. Sure they don’t know I had rether see them than to bite my finger. Tell them all what’s the matter. Give them all a kiss for me, the two Fannies, Mag, and Sallie and Jenny and all of them I know Tell them to write to me if they please and if they don’t please do so any how. You must do the same so no more at present for I am writing by candle light and Have got sore eyes. I am going to start to school Monday Mollie. Come down as soon as you can. I am coming up as soon as I can. Tell Gustus to come when he gets ready. I will be very glad to see him when ever he comes. Christopher has gone down to Mr. Morey’s to sit till bed time and Hattie is asleep and I am alone in my room writing or rather scribbling. You will think this is an awful fool but you will miss it won’t you. Say yourself, I have got three letters and they are the loveingest things you ever saw it would make you sick to read them for they have a great deal of love in them. Maybe you don’t believe it I guess if you was to see it you would say so every time. I will quit my foolishness for I know you are tired of reading it.

Kiss Mother rite soon if not
                                                                                sooner
                                                                                So farewell or good by
