I seate myself on abag of oats to wright you a fiew lines this morning to let you know that we are all well and getting along tolerably well we have had some wet weather we lay by the first Sunday after we started on account of it we croste the river at lexington and come up to St. Joseph and there intended to cross the river we stoped there to have some worke dun and whil we was waiting nuse come in that a train car had been atact on the night befor by about forty men and robed and left tide to trees and so we concluded not to cross and go farther up the river. Grass is vary short yet we have not found enny grass for our muls to untill yesterday edvening we found pretty good grass we will stay here today we are going to get corne and oats enoug to feeded a hundred miles after we cross the River then i thinke we will find grass sufficiant by that time to travel on
we calculate to cross the river at nebrascky citty we will cros to moraw
excuse the bad writing for you know I am not inthe habbot of wrighting
