Mrs Mary F. Elliott
Dear Sister as I have been thinking of you all day I thought I would try and write a few lines this lovely evening it has been a long time since we have heard from you you may have written and some one by the same name has got the letter for there are plenty of them here. We are having the nicest weather you ever saw almost we have had a good deal of rain but it is clear and ------- This leaves us all up but I am quite poorly myself today but I think it is from over heat making apple butter we have made about ten gallons and are not quite done yet. dryed about four bushel of apples George has sold about two hundred dollars worth of summer and fall apples and he is just about ready to gather his winter apples he thinks he will have between three or four hundred bushel some one wanting to engage winter apples at seventy five cents a bushel I don’t know whether he will sell his now or wait till later there are considerable complaint of hard times here but the general opinion is because there is so much money bet on the Election one hardware company bet everything that had in their house and invoiced their goods and closed their doors until the election is over everybody is excited and betting that their side will beat. George has not bet any yet and I don’t think he will if he does it will be a nickle on the one that beats we all want to see you awful bad and it does look like you ought to come up this pretty weather I got a letter from Mandy a week or two ago she said they had raised good oats and corn but they would not make more than a few bails of coton off of twenty acres. she also said they was going to leave Caryelle County and go to Brown wood Brown County this fall they may be gone now. Mary I have raised a splendid garden this summer and about five hundred young chickens and seventeen young turkeys and have sold seventeen dollars and fifty cents worth of chickens and some at two dollars and some a dollar and a half a dozen. Write as soon as you get this. Eugene and Emmet is both still in Nevada and Ella and Emma is both going to school write as soon as you get this and tell us all the news and if any of you ever intends to come up give our love to all. I will expect a letter soon no more at present but remain your loving sister
                                                                                            E. J. Parish
